Three vehicles have been set alight, all on the same driveway in Hemel Hempstead.
At around 1.15am on Thursday 12th March three vehicles, a silver Vauxhall Astra van, a burgundy Vauxhall Vectra Estate and a white Citroen Relay van, were set alight on the driveway of a property in Barnacres Road, at the junction with Candlefield Road.
Two men were seen to approach three vehicles at the side of the property, and set them alight. It is believed that they used an accelerant . Both men then ran off down Candlefield Road.
The fire service was called and the family living at the property were evacuated, as well as neighbours due to the close proximity of the fires to the house.
Detective Constable Ailsa Turnbull is investigating and said: "I would ask anyone who was in the area to contact me if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
"Thankfully the fire brigade prevented this fire from spreading further however; thousands of pounds of damage have been caused by these mindless actions. If you know anything which could help identify the offender(s) please call me."
Anyone with any information should contact DC Turnbull at Hemel Hempstead Local Crime Unit via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number D1/15/1552. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55 111.
