A man from Essex has appeared in court after being charged with the murder of a Hertfordshire man in Chelmsford.
Police were called just after 12.30am on Saturday 4 May 2013 after reports a body was inside a property on Moulsham Street in Chelmsford.
Officers arrived and found the body of a man from the Watford area.
A provisional post-mortem examination result showed that the 54-year-old man, later named as Paul Simons, died from stab wounds.
Detectives charged 22 year-old cleaner Michael Brennan from The Green in the Melbourne area of Chelmsford with one count of murder and detained him in police custody prior to an appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Bank Holiday Monday 6 May 2013.
Mr Brennan was subsequently remanded to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday 8 May.
