Appeal For Hospital Xmas Presents

Watford General Hospital are making a last minute appeal for Christmas present donations for patients on their children's ward.

They're holding a Christmas party on Sunday 4th Dec for all patients and ex-patients they've treated this year.

They had planned on giving all the children a box of chocolates as a gift but with just days to go their supplier has had to pull out.

Doctor James Rosenburg told us what it means to them ''These children are feeling unwell, they're having a difficult time, they're going to be away from the majority of their family, they're going to be away from their home environment, so I think it's important that we make every effort to make their Christmas a memorable experience.

''I've seen the joy on their faces when they see that there's a present at the end of their bed, so seeing the joy and happiness that it brings to them I was sorry to hear that that might not be the case this year.''

The hospital needs between 150-200 gifts to make sure each child gets a present. Local businesses are being asked if they can help but any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can call the Starfish ward on 01923 217357 or email info@whht.nhs.uk for the attention of 'Starfish'.
