Dummy Post Tests Royal Mail

After receiving a number of complaints about late post Watford MP Richard Harrington has tested Royal Mail.

On Friday he posted 50 letters first class to different addresses in Watford to see how long they took to arrive.

Royal Mail claim more than 92% of their first class post arrives in one working day.

This was not proven to be the case.

Only 32 of Richards’s letters had been delivered by Monday morning.

Even though this is only 64% Richard says this is an improvement:

"It's much better than it previously was, its a significant improvement but its still not good enough" 

People that have written to Richard claim the late post has had a serious impact on their life, some claim to have missed hospital appointments they didn't know they had.

Royal Mail spokesperson Valerie Antoine issued Heart with this statement: 

"Our latest performance figures show that, in the WD postcode area, 92.1% of First Class stamped and franked mail was delivered the next working day.  This was against a postcode area target of 91.5%.

“We recognise that we have not always got everything right in Watford and some of our customers may not always receive the service they have come to expect and deserve. We have been working hard to resolve these issues and we will continue to monitor services in the Watford area, We are also liaising closely with Mr Harrington MP as we try to ensure that we provide a consistent, high quality service to our customers."

Richard says he will continue to do these tests and will be meeting with Royal Mail to discuss ways of improving

"I will keep pushing them and I will not settle until everybody gets the service they believe they are paying for in my constituency".
