Masked Men Raid South Mimms Garage

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery at a petrol station in South Mimms.

The incident occurred at Murco on St Albans Road on Monday, December 29 at around 9pm when three offenders, who had their faces covered, went into the shop. Two of them threatened a cashier with poles forcing the member of staff to open the till.  These two offenders managed to take money from the till whilst the third took money from a staff only area.

The three then ran out of the back of the building down an alleyway into Brookside and then Hepburn Court.

It is believed they got into a vehicle there to leave the area.

The member of staff, a 48 year -ld man, was not injured during the incident and there were no customers in the store.

The suspects are believed to be white males in their mid-20s, one with an English accent and two possibly with an Irish accent.

One was wearing a navy blue hooded top with the hood up, a black balaclava, light grey coloured jogging bottoms with dark coloured stripes down the side. He had black socks and white trainers.

A second wore a dark coloured top with the hood up and a navy blue puffa gilet over the top with dark coloured jogging bottoms, grey socks and black trainers. He also had a black balaclava covering his face.

The third suspect was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up and a black and grey scarf over his face, dark blue jeans, with white socks and black trainers.

All three wore their trousers tucked into their socks.

Detective Constable Laurence Harwood said:

"After running from the building we are aware that the three may have got lost in the housing estate for a short time before making off in a vehicle.

This behaviour, and the fact their clothing would have stood out means that a number of people may have seen them. If you have any information which would assist the investigation please call me."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Harwood via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 with crime number J1/14/4184 (or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111).
