Plans to open an Olympic Park and Ride site at the Herts County Showground have been approved.
That's even though the site near Junction 9 of the M1 at Redbourn is nearly 40 miles away from the Olympic Stadium at Stratford, east London.
The Park and Ride site will provide 2,754 spaces for cars, with 30 spaces for disabled Blue Badge holders. Spectators will then be transferred to the Olympic site by coach.
The Park and Ride scheme will only be temporary, and for the duration of the Olympic Games between 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012, and not for the Paralympic Games that follows.
