Puppies Abandoned In Park

Six tiny puppies, less than two weeks old, have been found in a box under a tree in Cassiobury Park in Watford.

A homeless man discovered the puppies and took them to the cafe in the park where they were looked after until they could be taken to an animal shelter.

The puppies, three females and three males, believed to be terrier-type dogs, were found on Monday morning. 

They are still too small to open their eyes and had been well fed by their mother, before being taken away from her.

They had been left in a box with a couple of bedsheets, a towel and a blue and green stripped T-shirt. 

RSPCA animal welfare officer, Kate Wright said: 'We would like to hear from anyone who may have crossed the park earlier in the day and saw this large box being left. 

'These are very young animals which need their mother. 

'They have been callously abandoned and the person who did this may not be taking proper care of the mother. 

'Her teats will be full of milk and if she does not get attention she may suffer from mastitis.' 

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or knows of a dog that seems to have been pregnant but does not have any pups are asked to call the RSPCA on 0300-123-8018.
