Police investigating a knifepoint robbery at a Borehamwood newsagent have released a picture of a man they want to speak to.

A man walked into the Martin McColl shop on Hartforde Road on the evening of Wednesday 7 March 2012 and threatened a shopworker with a twelve-inch blade.

He threw a bag over the counter at a shop assistant and said, “Fill this up.” Raising the kitchen knife in the air he added, “I’m not messing about.”

The shop assistant took £70 from the till and gave it to the man, who then made off out of the shop’s front door.

DC Vikki Murray, from Hertfordshire Constabulary's Local Crime Unit in Borehamwood, said: “We would like to trace the man seen in this photo. If this is you or you think you recognise this man or know anything about the crime, please get in touch with police.”

The pictured man police would like to speak to is described as white, aged in his 20s, around 5ft 4in tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a high-visibility vest, a black or blue hooded top, blue tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He also wore a black scarf across his face.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Herfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference J1/12/753. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
