Detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Tring yesterday morning (Tuesday January 22nd).
The incident happened shortly after midnight when two male offenders forced their way into a retail premises using a sledgehammer on Miswell Lane.
The offenders were then challenged by a man in the premises who they then assaulted before making off empty – handed in a dark coloured vehicle which is believed to have made off into Miswell Lane before turning right on to Weston Avenue.
The man who confronted the offenders suffered a graze to his head and bruising on his back as a result of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Craig Flint, from Hemel Hempstead police station told Heart: "This was an aggressive crime which saw these people force their way in to a premises before assaulting a member of the public who tried to intervene. They showed no mercy as they assaulted the victim who has been left in an extremely shaken state. I would urge anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in or around the area at the time of the incident or who may have seen a dark coloured vehicle driving at speed away from Tring after the incident to contact us immediately."
