Police investigating a road traffic collision that took place on the A41 in Watford at approximately 3.30am on Sunday, March 20, are appealing for the driver of a people carrier that stopped at the scene and any other witnesses to come forward.

The motorcyclist, who has been named as 38-year-old Shaun Jarvis, from Cowdray Close in Milton Keynes, was riding a black and yellow Suzuki GSXR 600. He sadly passed away shortly after the collision.

The motorcycle was travelling in the direction of Hemel Hempstead on the A41 when it collided with a crash barrier between the Hunton Bridge roundabout and junction 20 of the M25 about 200 yards past Langleybury Lane.

It has been reported that the driver of the people carrier, thought to be a silver or light coloured Peugeot, stopped briefly at the scene before driving off.

Investigating officer, PC Matt Hollingsworth of the serious road crash investigation team, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen the motorcycle either before or after the collision took place to come forward. The motorcycle is believed to have travelled from the Dome roundabout along the A41 to Hunton Bridge and then towards the M25 on the A41.”

He added: “I am also very keen to speak to the driver of the people carrier that stopped at the scene. I would like to stress that the driver of this vehicle is not in any trouble at all, we are hoping that he may have witnessed something that may help us with our investigations.”

Anyone with information is asked contact PC Hollingsworth on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.

Prior to the collision, it is understood a police officer indicated to the motorcyclist to pull over.  Shortly afterwards the motorcyclist was involved in the collision. The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Meanwhile officers are appealing for witnesses and information following a second road traffic collision on the A41, this time at around 5pm yesterday evening (March 21).

A silver Mercedes travelling south-bound between the Two Waters Road junction at Hemel Hempstead and junction 20 of the M25 junction, was involved in a collision with a tree.

The driver, a 30-year-old man from Woking in Surrey, was trapped in the vehicle and the carriageway was completely closed while fire crews attempted to free him. He was taken to Watford General Hospital with serious leg injuries. He currently remains in a serious condition.

The road was re-opened at 10.40pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the vehicle being driven prior to it, to contact PC Ben Harper on 0845 3300222.
