Police appealing for witnesses to fatal car crash near Hitchin

Two men in their 20s have died after the car they were in crashed into a tree near Hitchin.

It happened at around 2.45am on Sunday, when the BMW they were travelling in collided into a tree in Ickleford.

Both men aged 27 died at the scene.

Police are trying to find out why the car left the carriageway on Arlesey Road.

No other vehicles are thought to be involved in the crash. 

Collision investigator PC Andy Ralph, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw this incident or who believes they may have seen it in the time leading up to the collision.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact me on the police non-emergency number 101.”
