A woman was grabbed from behind and put into a headlock and robbed in Hatfield.
The middle-aged woman was near the junction of St Albans Road West and Selwyn Drive in Hatfield at about 8.20pm on Thursday March 17 when she was attacked.
During the struggle she suffered back injuries from being thrown to the ground. She was punched in the face before the robber stole her handbag.
PC Ilana Cohen said: "This was a particularly violent stranger attack. We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man on foot in the area at the time to come forward or anyone who may know who the offender is. We are especially keen to speak to a man who was reading in a parked vehicle in St Albans Road West. "
The robber is described as a white man, of slim build, about 5 ft 11 tall. He was wearing dark coloured clothing, including a top with a hood, which was up.
