Trainers Worth Thousands Stolen

Police are appealing for witnesses and information in connection with the theft of trainers from a lorry in Hemel Hempstead.
At around 7.30am on Tuesday 6th November a lorry driver had parked his vehicle on Swallowdale Lane, ahead of making the delivery of Vans trainers to a premise nearby.
An offender approached the lorry and told the driver he wouldn’t be able to make his delivery for a number of hours and wasn’t allowed to stop at the location. He then directed the driver around the corner where the trainers were loaded into a different vehicle.
The first offender is described as a white man aged 40-50 years who was wearing a high-visibility jacket. The other men were also wearing high-visibility jackets.
Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins is investigating and said: “The area where the incident took place is an industrial area and it may have seemed that what happened with goods being loaded from one lorry to another vehicle wasn’t out of the ordinary. However, thousands of pounds of worth of trainers have been taken and it is important we trace these and those responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened or saw anything suspicious in the area to contact police. I would also like to appeal to anyone who has been offered cheap ‘Vans’ trainers or offered them for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact police.”
