Police stop a vehicle in Kent

The vehicle's said to have been taken from Ashford early yesterday morning was stopped more than 25 miles away on the A227.


Kent Police has detained a man on suspicion of multiple offences after a stolen van was driven in the wrong direction on the M20.
The suspect vehicle is reported to have been stolen from an address in Godinton, Ashford, at around 12.20am on Sunday 2 December.
It is then reported to have been driven in the wrong direction of the M20 before making contact with police vehicles.
Officers brought it to a controlled stop on the A227 in Vigo at around 1am.
A 29-year-old man from Sevenoaks was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, assault and dangerous driving.
He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
No serious injuries were sustained from the incident.
