Burglaries In Romney Marsh And Ashford

Detectives investigating a number of car key burglaries reported in the Romney Marsh and Ashford areas have arrested a man.
A series of break in’s have taken place in Romney Marsh and Ashford, were homes were broken into and vehicles were taken.
The burglars didn’t just look for car keys, they also took anything valuable that was on display.
Handbags, watches, wallets, and tablet computers were also taken in 5 burglaries, which police are connecting.
A 44-year-old man from Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving while unfit through drugs.
He has been bailed until Friday 23 November while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Andy Palmer said:
“We are linking these offences and are following a number of lines of enquiry.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw suspicious people or vehicles in the various locations at the relevant times.'
DC Palmer urged residents to protect themselves against thieves targeting cars and motorbikes by storing keys safely.
“We would always advise people to make sure cash, keys and expensive items are not visible from the outside of your home,' he said.
“Double-lock uPVC doors and windows, use timer switches on lights and radios to make it look like someone is home and keep garden gates locked and garden boundaries secure.'
