Funeral for Kent Soldier

Captain Daniel Read from 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps was killed in an explosion in the Musa Qaleh area of Northern Helmand on January 11.

The 31 year old bomb disposal expert, who went to Rainham Mark Grammar School, was part of a task force to counter Improvised Explosive Devices, and was supporting a battle group when he was killed.

Captain Read had returned to duty in December 2009 after being injured in a separate blast three months before.

His funeral is taking place in Truro Cathedral in Cornwall.

Captain Read leaves his wife Lorraine, parents and sisters behind.  Mrs Read said; "Dan was so brave, he was my hero and best friend, he was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He will never be forgotten and always in my heart.  I'm so proud and priviledged to have been your wife."
