Romance has returned to the Rio Olympics with the engagement of Kent Olympian Tom Bosworth and partner Harry Dineley.
The three time British record holding race walker, who set a new national mark as he finished sixth in the 20 kilometres, popped the question on Copacabana beach.
Bosworth, 26, who was born in Sevenoaks, announced the proposal on social media with a photo of himself on one knee and the message: "Could this week get any better? He said yes by the way!''
There followed a stream of congratulations from his fans and fellow athletes, including long jumper Greg Rutherford, who tweeted: "YOU GUYS!!!! Congratulations. So very happy for you both.''
US showbiz blogger and former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Perez Hilton added: "Yay! Congrats!!!.''
Bosworthbroke his own British record on Saturday, leading the field for much of the first half of the race but fell short of a medal a few kilometres from the finish.
His engagement follows the poolside proposal by Chinese diver Qin Kai to teammate He Zi moments after she received her silver medal in Sunday's 3-meter springboard event.
