A man has been remanded in custody charged with murder after a 54-year-old man was shot dead in Maidstone.
Kent Police was called at 10.43am on Sunday 17 March 2019 to Cambridge Crescent where a man was found with a gunshot wound. The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and 54-year-old Andrew Jenkins, from Rochester, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Jeffery Mills, aged 54, of Cambridge Crescent, who was known to the victim, was arrested. A firearm was recovered by police at the scene.
An investigation was launched by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, Mr Mills was charged with murder, possession of ammunition without a firearms licence and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
On Tuesday 19 March, he was remanded in custody by Medway Magistrates’ Court to appear at a hearing before Maidstone Crown Court on 21 March.
