A man is due to go on trial accused of murdering his former girlfriend outside a shopping centre in Medway.
Molly McLaren was attacked in her car near Dockside Outlet in Chatham last June.
The 23-year-old university student, who was from Cobham, near Gravesend, died from stab wounds.
Joshua Stimpson denies murder and will claim diminished responsibility when he appears at Maidstone Crown Court.
Stimpson, who's 26 and from Wouldham High Street, was arrested at the scene and has since undergone two psychiatric reports.
The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which will look into Miss McLaren’s contact with officers before her death.
Family and friends of Molly have set up a charity in her name to support people with eating disorders.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
