The 5ft sculpture of a shepherd boy was discovered in Horton Kirby by officers from Kent Police's Rural Task Force last week.

A statue stolen from a national trust property in Sussex more than a year ago has been found in the back of a horsebox near Sevenoaks.

It was taken from Nymans Gardens, Handcross in Sussex on 1 September 2016.
A 23-year-old man was subsequently convicted of the theft following a Sussex Police investigation but did not reveal the location of the stolen item.
The statue was later finally located on 11 December. Officers made a number of enquiries to establish where it had come from and contacted Heritage Watch for assistance.

As a result, the statue has been returned to the Nymans Gardens estate where it is now in secure storage pending conservation work.
