The first person to be charged by detectives investigating allegations of abuse and mistreatment of youngsters at a youth jail in Medway will appear in court later.
Rebecca Harold, 24, of Grecian Street, Maidstone was charged with common assault and will appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday).
Nine other people who were also arrested over allegations made about Medway Secure Training Centre (STC) in Rochester remain on police bail until September 21. While two others have been freed without charge.
The arrests came after an undercover Panorama programme which went behind the scenes at the then G4S-run unit.
The Government later announced it would take over the running of the facility through the National Offender Management Service.
In February, G4S said it was selling its UK children's services business, which includes 13 children's homes and two STCs - Medway and Oakhill in Milton Keynes.
