These Red Carpet Looks Are The Most Memorable For All The Wrong Reasons!
It’s awards season so we’re looking back at some of the most memorable and bizarre looks to have ever graced the red carpet.
1. Liz Hurley's safety pin dress
This Versace show-stopper certainly put Elizabeth Hurley on the map. No longer just the girlfriend of Hugh Grant, Liz became a star overnight after wearing the gown, held together by several large safety pins, at the Four Weddings And A Funeral premiere in 1994.
2. Bjork sets feathers fly
The Icelandic singer certainly ruffled a few feathers at the 2001 Oscars wearing a crazy Marjan Pejoski dress that was shaped to look like a swan. She even pretended to lay an egg on the red carpet. Pure gold.
3. Gwyneth Paltrow's fashion faux-pas
These days, it's pretty rare to see Gwyneth Paltrow put a foot wrong on the red carpet, but at the Oscars in 2002 she shocked everyone with her Goth-inspired gown (and no bra!) To make matters worse, under the glare of the paparazzi's flash bulbs, the vest was, err, slightly see through.
4. Christina Aguilera's double denim
Christina Aguilera came to the 2002 VMAs sporting all the worst fashion trends of the 90s. With a denim cap, colourful highlights, infamous scarf-top and terrifying miniskirt, just how did Christina Aguilera get it so wrong?
5. Jennifer Lopez's plunging gown
J Lo certainly turned heads in this plunging Versace gown, which marked the birth of the ‘naked dress’. At the time, it was the most popular search query Google had ever seen - inspiring the creation of Google Image Search.
6. Lady Gaga wears raw beef!
The queen of fashion controversy outdid even her own standards with this choice of outfit! Gaga was the talk of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards when she arrived in a dress and ankle boots made entirely from raw meat – yuck!
7. Angelina Jolie puts her best foot forward
Angelina Jolie's right leg was the breakout star of the Academy Awards in 2012. Her black Atelier Versace gown with thigh-high split and unusual pose were so iconic that they earned their own Twitter account @AngiesRightLeg.
8. Beyonce's barely there gown
All hail Queen Bey! She may have been late to the Met Gala in 2015, but all eyes were firmly focused on her when she sauntered down the red carpet in a jaw-dropping Givenchy gown that left very little to the imagination.
