You are taken care of from start to finish during a session at The Lash Bar. From the moment you turn the corner off bustling London's Carnaby Street and enter into the deceptively small reception, the lovely staff at The Last Bar usher you into their little oasis of calm. After being offered refreshments, your therapist leads you downstairs into one of their treatment rooms. You are then talked through the procedure and then asked to lie down on the bed. The full treatment takes one and a half hours, but is well worth the time spent. Lashes are hand applied individually and throughout the session you can either lie quietly and enjoy the calming music or have a chat. The treatment is painless and the effect is such that you don't need to apply mascara for as long as they last. Lashes fall out by their own accord with your natural lash cycle so there's not need to return to the salon for removal. Our lasted three weeks. A full set costs £120 and is available from The Lash Bar.

Brows are all the rage these days, with a trend for the thicker variety, made popular by model of the moment Cara Delevingne. Billion Dollar Brow is a treatment that takes brows very seriously and they've developed a comprehensive range of tools to get the best shape to suit your face both in the salon and at home. We visited the Vivify Beauty spa at the Chelsea Cloister Hotel in London. Our lovely beautician Inga first used a brow compass to check what the natural shape of our brows should be (the arch should be aligned with the pupils, and the length is measured against the nose and the outer corner of the eye). She then proceeded to use a white pencil to define the thickness and shape. After that she gently waxed and tweezed any stray hairs outside of the white line to create the perfect brow for our face, following its natural shape. She then proceed to trim any long hairs. When the desired style was achieved, she filled them in with a powder (similar to an eyeshadow) to give them definition, and applied a clear brow mascara to keep them in place. Finally she used a pencil concealer to hide any redness and define the arch of the brow. The results were truly worth a billion dollar! Our eyebrows were perfectly groomed and created a beautiful frame for our eyes. Get the Billion Dollar Brow pronto, you won't believe the difference it'll make to your face! The Billion Dollar Brow Shape is priced at £30 and available at vivifybeauty.com and in salons and Spas nationwide. The tools can be purchased at the Spas or at http://www.billiondollarbrows-uk.com.
The super-silky feel of this mask gives it a real luxury feel and leaves the skin ultra soft, hydrated and with a beautiful glow. Priced at £52 and available from arbonneinternational.co.uk.

The whole treatment feels lovely and relaxing and legs and tummy immediately feel lighter, de-puffed and soothed. The results are excellent: super smooth, toned legs and tummy. Chinese acupuncture originated more than 2000 years ago, and today is as popular as ever and is used to aid with all sorts of issues: from muscular pains and stress relief, to insomnia, fertility, slimming and digestion. It works focusing on the body's 12 main meridians and eight secondary meridians and the 2,000 acupuncture point to connect them. We decided to get some help with a sore muscle in our neck and shoulder and try acupuncture for the first time. Not being fans of needles we were slightly apprehensive at first, but they are so fine, you can hardly feel them going into the skin. Dr Zang at the Zen Clinic in London was quick and careful in applying them and the whole process was painless. After the application a lamp was placed over us to warm the needles and help circulation. We then relaxed for 30 minutes, letting the needles do the work. The results were truly impressive: we went in with a blocked neck and shoulder and left in no pain and being able to move normally (also aided by a deep tissue massage performed by Dr Zang). Acupuncture, depending on one's needs, does require a few follow up appointments - in our case another 3-4, but it's well worth it and we found that it worked immediately and the results have lasted. Acupuncture is available at zenclinic.org and nationwide. Our treatment cost £40 for 30 minutes.

We were very excited to try the Morgan Taylor manicure at Harrods' Urban Retreat. With 100 nail lacquer colours it was a tough choice, but in the end went for the gorgeous Prettier In Pink, a cerise shade. The treatment was lovely and comprised treatment of cuticles, including cutting and softening cream, a hand massage done with a highly moisturising lotion, nail filing, shaping and buffing, undercoat, nail polish application finished off with the application of a top coat. The whole process took 30 minutes and the lacquer dried quickly, meaning that there was no mess or smudges when we had to hop on the tube to get home. A five star treatment with a five star product! Enriched with vitamins and active oxygen, this cream by Karin Herzog, a brand loved by Kate Middleton, has been designed to combat fine lines, aid the production of collagen, de-puff and reduce under eye circles. It comes with an applicator brush, which at first we thought was a little gimmicky, but actually we found it helped the product penetrate into the skin quicker than using fingers. After applying it day and night for four weeks we've noticed that the eye area is firmer and moisturised and fine lines are less noticeable. We have yet to see any difference in dark circles and puffiness but as we only get tired eyes very occasionally, so any change would be minimal. Best for those with dry skin, fine lines and loss of firmness around the eyes. £42 and available from Fenwick stores, feelunique.com and lookfantastic.com.

We found Phytacol Phytaoil a pleasure to use as it's easily absorbed, leaves the skin soft and soothed, can be used on face and body and at £10.99 it's also affordable. If you prefer a lotion to an oil, try Phytacol Phytalotion instead. Available from phytacol.com.

Known for its purifying ingredients clay is used to draw out dirt from the skin whilst firming and given the epidermis a dewy finish. Clayspray Glow Red Clay Masque has been enriched with cocoa to nourish the skin whilst deeply cleansing it. It's simple to use, simply wet your face and apply avoiding the eye area. Once it's dry, pat dry and follow with a moisturiser. This masque looks, smells and has the consistency of the finest, thick Italian hot chocolate (resist the urge and do not eat it as it truly is deliciously divine) and the results are, in our opinion, superb. The skin is thoroughly cleansed and radiant and we particularly noticed how well it draws out impurities and minimizes blackheads and pores size. Use once a week on the whole face or problem areas such as chin, nose and forehead. Available from feelunique.com and clayspray.com and priced at £44.50.
Not many know that snail secretions contain something called Helix Aspera Muller, which has antioxidant and skin-regenerative properties. Dr Organic has utilised this rejuvenating ingredient and mixed it with aloe vera to create their Snail Gel. Apply it on face and body as a moisturiser or on red spots, burns, cuts, scars and bruises to soothe the skin and speed up its regeneration. We used it as a face moisturiser and found it firming, moisturising and very easily absorbed. We also tried it on the face and body after waxing and it immediately got rid of the redness and stinging sensation caused by this hair removal method. And don't fret, no snail is harmed to make this gel: the slime they leave behind is simply collected on a glass tray in a safe environment. Free from parabens, chemicals, colourants and synthetic fragrances. Dr Organic Snail Gel is available from Holland and Barrett and priced at £19.99.
Talc-free, enriched with antioxidants and with UV protection, Glo Minerals Foundation is ideal for everybody, including those with sensitive and oily skin. This liquid formula is easy to apply and has a medium coverage that lasts all day. We loved the texture which makes it very easy to apply and the finish is dewy and doesn't slide off the skin. It comes in 16 shades, from very light to very dark and it's also available in a matte formula. Available from glo-minerals.com and priced at £37 (£29.95 for the Matte II version).
Lip balms are a beauty essentials, but many are full of chemicals and only hydrate superficially, leaving you to continually apply more to quench your thirsty lips. Not Glo Minerals Lip Ritual. Packed with natural ingredients such as oils of jojoba, clove, anise and apricot kernel, extracts of green tea and vitamins A, E and C this balm will keep your lips moisturised all day, with few applications in between. It absorbs quickly too, making it ideal to wear under lipstick. We love the packaging too: slick and chic. Priced at £11.50 and available from glo-minerals.com.
"I'm not a fan of B.B. creams" says Heart Digital Editor Stef Bottinelli "I see them mainly as tinted moisturisers given a marketing spin, however with Kiko B.B. Glo Compact I had to rethink my stance. Kiko have clearly put some effort into this. Rather than a B.B. cream I'd liken it to a light, moisturising foundation as it has more coverage than a B.B. . It also has a very natural, radiant finish, with none of the chalkiness of B.B.s. Easy to apply and to carry in your handbag, perfect for on the go touch-ups and ideal if you don't want to go completely bare-faced in the warmer months. It also comes in 12 shades, from very light to very dark, making it ideal for all." Priced at £11.90 and available from kikocosmetics.co.uk and Westfield stores in London.
It's well known that mineral makeup is great for everybody, especially those with sensitive skin. Mineral mascaras are particularly useful for those who wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes as germs don't breed in their inorganic formulas. We really liked Glo Minerals Lengthening Mascara. The texture is just right: not to thick and not runny, which means you won't get the dreaded panda eye effect after wearing it all day. The wand is made up of different size bristles, so that they catch even the tiniest of eyelashes and really coat them with product. The results are very good: long, black lashes and not a tear in sight. Available at glo-minerals.com and priced at £13.
Packed with water-magnet hyaluronic acid and containing 15% glycerine, Bioderma Hydrabio Serum Concentrate helps dehydrated and sensitive skin to re-moisturise for a plumper, more radiant complexion. This serum is really light and easy to absorb, it's heavenly scented and works wonderfully on its own under makeup as well as under day and night creams. It promises to aide hydration, and that's exactly what it does. £17.50 and available from garden.co.uk.
The new Jelly Collection by Make Up Store is full of lovely products in summery hues, such as this pretty light teal polish. The application is quick and easy as this varnish dries really fast and requires no more than two coats for an intense colour. We tested it without applying a top coat and after 5 days of typing, doing housework and even peeling labels off new shoes, our manicure is almost pristine, save for the tips of the index fingers being a tiny bit worn out (only noticeable if you look really closely). A winner! Priced at £11 and currently only available from 32 Carnaby Street, London and Westfield London.
'I have to admit to being somewhat dubious when I was asked to do a review of Home Spa Make Up Store's Coffee and Honey Suckle body lotion.' says Heart editor Holly Fishwick. 'Although captivated from the first whiff by the unusual combination of scents, (the smell really is divine) I was sceptical that a body lotion could include honey and not end up leaving your skin feeling at best heavy, at worst sticky! However, I was very pleasantly surprised indeed. The two different lotions combine through the bottle's clever nozzle and the result is a texture that is smooth and silky and glides easily across the skin. The lotion dries quickly and feels light and airy on the skin, whilst replenishing its natural moisture level. This irresistible cream had me doing a complete 180 degree turn and it comes highly recommended.' £15 currently only available from 32 Carnaby Street, London and Westfield London.

'As one who is prone to rather unsightly blemishes which have the habit of popping up at the most annoyingly inappropriate times, I've sometimes fell like I've tried every "acne-cure" under the sun!' writes Heart's Digital Editor Holly Fishwick. 'Proactive Solution's Green Tea Moisturiser is refreshingly lightweight, whilst being moisture-rich at the same time. What's more, because the product has been developed by doctors (Drs Rodan and Fields to be precise), the treatment works to heal skin rather than merely soothing it. As the formula is so light, it can also be applied throughout the day, rather than simply morning and evening, ensuring you see results in a short space of time.' Available from proactiv.co.uk, at the cost of £15.95.
Tantastic Spraytan is easy to use, reasonably long lasting, and refreshingly for self-tanning product, odour free. The spray can allows you to see where you are tanning and get an even coverage across all areas of your body without running the risk of streaking, but the can is built with non-aerosol technology so is eco-friendly. There is none of the biscuity smell that you get with so many fake tans, and you can use the product on both face and body. The end result is a warm and coppery shade of brown, rather than an more olive-shade, so works better with lighter complexions. £18 and available from Tantastic.co.uk.
Australian beauty brand A'Kin is huge Down Under and for good reasons too. Vegan, formulated with 100% botanicals and without parabens or sulfates, A'Kin products can be used by all including kids and those with sensitive skin (always do a patch test first). We simply adore their body washes, which smell divine (try Jasmine or Orange Blossom, or if you prefer, the unscented one) and leave the skin soft and cleansed. Plus they look gorgeous in the bathroom. A'Kin Body Wash, £14.00 from Akinbeauty.co.uk, Amazon, Feelunique.com, Boots and Lookfantastic.com.
Thirsty skin will love drinking up this silky cream mask that leaves the epidermis ultra baby soft and smooth. We've tried it on both dry and oily skin types and are pleased with the moisturising-without-greasiness results on both. We'll be packing this one for our summer holidays and lathering it on after days under the sun. Available at most department stores, Boots, independent chemists and priced at £33.
There have been an explosion in the volume of hot cloth cleansers – creamy cleansers polished off the skin with muslin clothes – in the beauty market. Two things mark this one from Tara Walker out from the rest of the pack. 1) The cleanser is a soft gel packed with only natural ingredients which foams up pleasingly when used and destroys every last scrap of makeup, and 2) the muslin cloth is actually a butter-soft chamois which feels beautiful on the skin. The chamois dries almost instantly after use so we wonder if this is a lot more hygienic than muslin clothes which need regular machine washes to get them in shape. The results are squeaky-clean skin with intense hydration. We love. Available from tarawalkersdream.com and priced at £40.
Some clay masks can be too heavy for dry or sensitive skin types, but this gentle formula doesn't over dry and melts off easily with a warm muslin cloth, leaving clear, plumped-up, healthy look skin. Mineral rich seaweed deep cleases and detoxes the skin, making it perfect for getting neglected skin back on track. Available from voya.ie and priced at £32.
The sun is out at last and these beautiful shades cheer us up no end. We might just wear all three colours at once on our fingers and toes in this beautiful sun. Available at carolynk.com and priced at £12.99.
There are many fake tans on the market, and let's face it, despite what they promise, many of them leave you with a streaky, orange-tinted finish. Dr LeWinn Sunless Self Tanning Lotion however was a dream to use. The lotion is white and does not stain the hands at all. We tested the light shade and the tan develops gradually and without any streaking or tangerine finish. This is perfect for those who want a golden natural looking tan. Available from Drlewinns, Debenhams, Tesco, House Of Fraser, independent shops and major stores. £15.

A pore refiner, UV protector and primer all in 1. Apply on cleansed and moisturised face and this mousse will create the perfect canvas to apply makeup on.
