Planning can't be stressed enough when you want to do some DIY. Don't make what could be a fun activity chaotic by not planning first. It doesn't have to be stressful and you can even go away from the project with your notebook so you can come up with some fresh ideas.
There is nothing worse than starting a job and not having all the tools you require to get the job done.
Dont get carried away, be realistic with what you think you can achieve, start something you think you can finish. By starting small you can build on your confidence for bigger projects.
There are loads of resources you can use to get you started, look at magazines, websites and even some of your friends and families homes to give you ideas on how you can transform your home.
Make sure you read all the necessary instructions. AE rooms are typically filled with people who have had DIY disasters, but as long as you follow all the instructions and dont tackle more than you can realistically handle youll be fine.
After all your hard work, the last thing you want is a trail of chaotic mess, so have a plan in place for cleaning as you work. Move all the furniture out of the way, cover anything which may get paint or dust on it and buy all the cleaning equipment youll need before you get started.
