Women are embracing their natural freckles on social media after Meghan Markle showed off hers at the Royal Wedding.

Hashtags such as #freckleslikemeghans and #frecklegang have been going viral, with women posting their beauty-spotted selfies with pride in salute of the Dutchess' barely-there make-up look.

One woman wrote, "Meghan Markle and her beautiful freckles give me a boost of confidence to wear as little or as much makeup as I please"

Another posted, "I just want to let y’all know that I will be embracing my freckles all summer long since Meghan Markle didn’t cover any of hers, loved it."

Some ladies have even started experimenting with faux freckles for the summer with one woman posting: "F A U X • F R E C K L E S // Beautiful freckles are the new trend in makeup...I have just used a very softened brown kohl eye liner but I definitely want to buy this product next. Maybe it’s the Meghan Markle effect, but I love it, it’s super cute."

The 36-year-old Dutchess of Sussex, who married Prince Harry on the 19th May, chose celebrity make-up artist Daniel Martin to do her bridal look with strict instructions from the new royal to keep her skin looking as "real and natural as possible."

Speaking with Glamour magazine, the make-up designer who has created looks for Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba and Elisabeth Moss, said: "Right now in make-up, so much is covered up and masked by contouring, strobing, and creating this false dimension to what you naturally have.

"On your wedding day you want to look back at your photos and think about how great you felt in your dress and not be distracted by how trendy your make-up was in 2018.

"I focused on bringing out her best self and elevating it to a level, that you’re not necessarily able to achieve yourself."
