Sky High: It's Now Cheaper to Take A PRIVATE PLANE Than Travel By Train

Vlogger Tom Church travelled from London to Newcastle in style – at half the price and in half the time.
We all know that rail prices are sky-high at the moment, but this is something else. A vlogger has gone viral after revealing that it’s cheaper to board a PRIVATE PLANE from London to Newcastle than it is to take the train.
26-year-old Tom Church revealed his findings via his money-saving website latestdeals.co.uk and it truly is astonishing.
The savvy saver used a service called Wingly, which connects pilots with the public, and hopped onboard in Elstree, 13 miles north of central London. He paid just £67 for the service. A train from London Kings Cross to Newcastle would have cost him £158.
So, instead of being packed onto an overcrowded train, his jammed into someone’s armpit, lucky to find some floor space to sit by the toilet, Tom was the only passenger on his private plane as it coursed through the clouds. His pilot and new pal Andrew was happy to chat about his love of flying as they made the journey.
He told unilad.co.uk: “We were surfing on the clouds and Andrew, the pilot, explained how it all works. We saw rainbows and beautiful clouds. I will definitely be doing it again.”
And the real kicker? He made the journey in HALF the time it would taken to get the train, with the flight taking only one hour and forty minutes.
Pilot Andrew said: “We were surfing on the clouds and Andrew, the pilot, explained how it all works. We saw rainbows and beautiful clouds. I will definitely be doing it again.”
It was reported in December that train prices were set to increase by a further 2.3% this year, having already gone up a whopping 23.5% between 1995 and 2016.
Lianna Etkind, a spokesperson for the organisation Campaign for Better Transport, warned that some passengers were “finding themselves priced off the railways”. There’s only one thing for it: let’s all go by private plane instead!
