This quirky new tip comes from wine experts who have revealed exactly how your favourite plonk should be served to avoid ruining the flavour.
What's better than the taste of a nice cold glass of white after a hard day's work?
Or perhaps the consumption of a cosy red to get your stress levels back down to zero.
If these thoughts tickle your pickle, you might be interested to know that you're actually serving your wine incorrectly and RUINING your drinks.
Yup, if you serve your white wine straight out the fridge, you should halt it right there, because it actually needs to sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before serving.
Equally, pouring yourself a glass of red straight from the bottle isn't right either - you should put it in the fridge for 20 minutes to chill it slightly.
And thus, the 20:20 rule is revealed.
Joe Fattorini, presenter of The Wine Show, revealed to Good Housekeeping that by serving our plonk incorrectly, we could be losing the best of the flavour.
He explained: "Doing this means we’re either losing a lot of the aroma of the wine, or exaggerating the alcohol content and suppressing the wine’s flavour."
Joe believes that serving white wine too cold will "kill the fruit", causing it to lose that aromatic flavour that we enjoy so much. With red, serving it too warm can lead to the alcohol content becoming more "inflated" and creating a bitter taste.
So, next time you fancy a tipple, hang on for just 20 minutes!
