Baby Death: Woman Charged

An 18 year old woman from east London's been charged with causing the death of a four-month-old baby girl.

The little girl died in hospital on Friday 4 October 2013, having been taken there from an address in Bow.

Police were called in by paramedics at 5.30pm because of the condition of the girl. She was dead by 5.45pm.

Officers, led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, launched an investigation into the circumstances of her death.

The woman, who has not been named by the police, was arrested on Saturday 5 October and later charged.

She was due to appear before Thames Magistrates' Court in east London on Monday 7 October, charged with causing the death of a child.  She was also charged with the wilful neglect of the baby and two children.

A post-mortem examination was yet to take place at the time she was due to appear.
