It's reported ministers have urged the Mayor to meet and talk to the RMT before next week's planned tube strikes.

The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, is said to have told Boris Johnson he needs to reach out to the unions.

Meanwhile an investigation is starting in to what's called Transport for London's "nightmare" tube upgrades, a year since it took control of the task.

City Hall's Transport Commitee is to interview a range of people including union leaders, to see why the upgrades have overrun and who's to blame.

It's due to publish its findings in July.
