Locals Fight City Airport Expansion

People living near London City Airport are taking their challenge against the expansion of the site to the High Court.

They want to overturn Newham Council's decision to allow around 50 per cent more flights a year.

The residents are from community campaign group Fight The Flights and they'll be represented in court by Friends of the Earth.

They claim Newham Council has acted illegally by failing to adequately consult on its proposals and failing to consider Government policy on tackling climate change.

They believe more flights will mean more noise and air pollution for local people.

The hearing is scheduled to last two-days.
