Personal Trainer Paedophile Jailed
A 38-year-old paedophile from south London has been jailed following a proactive operation by the Metropolitan Police Service's Paedophile Unit.
Robin Malka, a personal fitness trainer, of Cranmer Road, Kennington was sentenced to a total of four years in prison at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, 2 April, after being convicted at an earlier hearing.
He was sentenced as follows:
Count One - Arranging the commission of a child sex offence, for which he received four years imprisonment with four years' extension under the new sentencing guidelines. He is required to serve two-thirds of the four-year sentence before being eligible for release. If released at that point, he will spend the remaining five years on license.
Count Two - Possession of Indecent Images of Children - he was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, to run concurrently with count one.
Counts three to 12 - Various charges of distribution of indecent images of children for which he was sentenced to two years to be served concurrently with count one.
He was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register until further notice and was granted a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for life.
Malka was arrested on 13 November 2012 in Mile End following an intelligence-led proactive operation by the Met's Paedophile Unit after he placed an advert on an internet forum seeking other paedophiles to help him sexually abuse young children.
Detective Constable Stephanie Curtis, who investigated the case, said:
"I hope this case will demonstrate our determination to catch dangerous paedophiles and bring them to justice whilst encouraging victims of sexual predators to contact the police."
