Power Cut in West End

Parts of the West End were left in complete darkness after a power cut - on the busiest night of the year for Christmas parties

Hundreds of shops and businesses in the West End were affected because of a power cut on Friday.

The cut began just before 1pm and engineers began restoring power in stages shortly afterwards.

At one point Oxford Circus Underground Station had to be closed as it was affected by the black out.

UK Power Networks apologised to those affected.

It comes as London Ambulance service set up a temporary alcohol recovery centre in Soho on Friday night to help with the number of drunk people out in town tonight.
