Six teenagers accused of setting a fire that closed the M1 in North London for several days in April last year have been cleared.

The fire at a scrapyard underneath the elevated section in Barnet caused £4.5 million worth of damage. The stretch of motorway was closed for nearly a week following the fire on April 15th.

Jurors at Wood Green Crown Court cleared the six teenagers of any involvement with the M1 arson but they were convicted alongside three others of taking part in a number of arson attacks in Barnet over a five day period.
