Teen Gets Rioting Charge

A teenager has become the first person to be charged with rioting by Scotland Yard following last summer's violence in London

19-year-old Jerome Amankwah from Griffin Road, Tottenham is accused of rioting on Tottenham High Road in August - the maximum sentence is 10 years in prison.

To be convicted of rioting it must be proven that someone was part of 12 or more people who threatened unlawful violence that would cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety.

Amankwah will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on February 9.
