Tube Heat Cuts Bills

Waste heat from the Tube is going to be used to help to warm hundreds of homes this winter.

The project, the first of its kind in Europe, is a partnership between Islington Council, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, UK Power Networks and Transport for London.

It will take the heat from Northern line tunnels to an electrical substation where it will be used to reduce the energy bills of 500 local authority homes in Islington.
