A 68-year-old woman from Great Holm in Milton Keynes has died, after a collision on the A422 near Chicheley.
It happened just before 4.15pm on Wednesday afternoon. A black BMW 5-Series was travelling on the A422 Newport Road, Chicheley, from Bedford towards Newport Pagnell, when it crossed the carriageway into the path of a yellow Mercedes Vito.
Firefighters from Olney, Newport Pagnell and Broughton were called to the incident.
The driver, and sole occupant of the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The firemen used hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to release three men and two women who were trapped in the Mercedes. They were taken by ambulance, air ambulance and police helicopter to hospitals in Milton Keynes, Oxford, Coventry and Bedfordshire. Two are in a critical condition.
