Lions Move To Olympic Park

Basketball team The Milton Keynes Lions are going to move to one of the venues in the Olympic Park, after failing to find a new home in MK.

From 2013, they will play at the Copperbox Arena (right) - the venue for the handball during the London 2012 Games.

The team will also change their name to the London Lions.

The MK Lions have been associated with Milton Keynes since 1997 but they have been without a permanent home since the old Bletchley Leisure Centre was demolished in 2010.

Since then, they have temporarily been housed in Middleton Hall in The Centre:MK shopping mall, and then in a retail unit in Winterhill, just outside Central Milton Keynes.  Neither of these have proved to be long term solutions.

Heart understands that until the Copperbox Arena becomes available, the team will play their matches at the Crystal Palace National Indoor Arena in south London.
