A man selling guitars online has been attacked in his home in Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, by five people he thought had come to look at them.
The attack happened at the man's house on Union Street at 7.20pm on Wednesday 30 January 2013.
The victim, a 33-year-old man, opened his door to a group of people he believed were responding to an advertisement he placed on a website to sell some guitars. On opening the door, five offenders wearing balaclavas forced their way in.
They kicked and punched the victim during the assault and he received a slash wound to his back. The offenders took two guitars and fled the scene.
The victim is undergoing treatment at Milton Keynes Hospital. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
Det Insp Nick Glister of Milton Keynes CID said, “This is an unusual incident that was the result of using a website to advertise valuable musical equipment.
"While incidents such as these are rare, we would always encourage members of the public to be cautious when advertising items for sale from their homes and about who they let in.”
