MK school admissions

How do you think the Milton Keynes School Admissions system should work?

That is what Milton Keynes Council wants to find out.

It's running a consultation on the proposed arrangements for 2011. The arrangements will be relevant to children starting school for the first time, for those who are transferring from an infant school at the end of Year 2 and for those going to secondary school at the end of Year 6.

You can take part in the consultation here.

It's looking at things like oversubscription criteria for when a school doesn't have enough places as well as how admissions in the middle of the schools year should work.

Marilyn Barby - the schools admission's manager at MK Council - told Heart:

"This is an opportunity for parents to contribute to the arrangements that are made which affect their children and affect the likelihood of them getting places at schools."

Parents contribution to that is welcomed. We look forward to hearing from parents. If they can help us in shaping the way admissions operate in Milton Keynes then we are all for that."

The consultation closes on Monday 1st March.
