A man's been taken to hospital with a fractured jaw, following a robbery at the Deep Blue Chip Shop on the High Street in Woburn Sands.

It happened between 8.50pm and 9pm on Sunday, May 2nd.

The victim was locking up at the back on the takeaway, when he was approached by two men. One blocked his path, while the other punched him and demanded money. The offenders then forced the victim back in to the chip shop and told him he would be seriously injured if he didn't open the safe.

The pair tied to victim to a metal bar and then made off on foot, with a large sum of cash. The victim was found half an hour later shaken and suffering from facial injuries by a friend.

He was taken to Milton Keynes hospital and has since been released with a fractured jaw.

DC Barry Kerr, from Bedfordshire Police, said the offenders were black, 6ft tall, muscular and wore dark clothing with scarves partially covering their faces.

He is keen to speak to anyone who saw the offenders hanging around before the incident, making off from the scene or getting into a vehicle.

DC Kerr said: “It is quite possible someone saw something that, until now, they did not realise was significant. If that is the case, we would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

“Although incidents like this are rare in Woburn, we would reassure the community we have stepped up patrols and will do all in our power to catch these offenders.”

Anyone with information can contact DC Barry Kerr, in confidence, on 01582 473273, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or text to 07786 200011.
