Last month Sharon Shachar received a lot of attention by walked around Milton Keynes wearing two sandwich boards advertising that she was looking for a job. After more than a year of being out of work Sharon starts her new job today.
Sharon, from Coffee Hall in Milton Keynes says the sandwich board is what got her noticed and she doesn't think she would have got the job without it. She is now getting recognised in the street and on the bus and is giving advice to other people out of work.
After being made redundant last year Sharon says standing outside Milton Keynes train station and walking through the business district wearing she sandwich boards was a last resort. She claims to have applied for nearly a thousand jobs on the internet and took an IT course but felt like she was getting no where.
She explains the moment she got the call to say she had got the job:
"I was ecstatic really, excited, I didn’t know what to say, I wanted to jump up-and-down I wanted to do everything. I cried on the way home because I just couldn't believe it"
Sharon told Heart she never expected the sandwich board to be so successful.
