The wedding between the introverted Prince and his love match surprised and delighted many as when it took place on 4 December 1999. "The whole of Belgium fell for your charms," said the mayor of Brussels during their civil wedding ceremony. What is more, the Prince's choice couldn't have been better. Mathilde was a clever speech therapist and had bags of style. For her wedding she wore a silk crepe coat with a tall collar by Edouard Vermeulen of Natan and an heirloom tiara. Picture: PA
