2013 unleashed some massive viral hits. Here's our guide to the biggest and the best of the year!

1) The 'Harlem Shake':

Despite the song being released in 2012, the bonkers 'Harlem Shake' dance didn't take off until February 2013, when it was used as the backing track to a dance meme and became an internet sensation. Over 40,000 'Harlem Shake' videos are rumoured to have been uploaded to Youtube in the first 11 days of the meme hitting and have since been viewed around 200 million times collectively.



2) The Pony #DancePonyDance:

UK telecom company Three struck gold when they created an advert that featured a moonwalking Shetland pony, dancing to Fleetwood Mac. We're not surprised about this one; what's not to love?


3) Dove Real Beauty Sketches:

This lovely video sees forensic artist Gil Zamora create two different sketches of the same women whilst she sits out of view. One sketch is drawn based on the lady's description of herself and one is drawn based on a friend's description of them. Afterwards, both sketches are then unveiled to the woman and her response it caught on camera.

The video has had over nine million views on Youtube views, due to its powerful message about the way women view their bodies and about how we should realise that we are more beautiful than we think.


4) Tom McFly's Baby Announcement:

Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna reveal they are expecting a baby in an adorable Halloween themed video. Daddy-to-be Fletcher looks like he still have a bit of growing up to do in the meantime after he tweeted: "If the little Fletcher thinks I'm sharing my toys he's/she's got another thing coming!"


6) David And Harper Beckham On The KissCam:

Our hearts melted when we saw this video of doting dad David Beckham giving his daughter a peck on the cheek on KissCam at the LA Kings NHL game. (Skip to 1.08 to see David give little Harper a big smooch!)


7) The 2013 World Yo-Yo Champion:

Our eyes almost popped out of our heads when we watched this video of Janos Karancz's performance of the 2013 World Yo-Yo Championships! The 18-year-old impressed judges and audience members alike when he scooped the prize and was crowned champion.



8) Beyoncé Performs The American National Anthem:

It was a historic moment for the American public when President Barack Obama was sworn in for a second term as President of The United States of America. Mrs Knowles-Carter took to the stage to give a heartfelt performance of 'The Star-Spangled Banner'.

11) Bat Kid Saves San Franciso City:

Meet the five-year-old boy who saved San Francisco from devastation and destruction! Miles Scott was diagnosed with leukaemia at just 18-months-old and has spent his life battling the disease. To celebrate Scott entering remission, the Make-A-Wish Foundation have made his dreams come true as he's transforms into Batman and saves Gotham City!

Watch as the good people of San Francisco rally behind the mini superhero and thousands of volunteers take to the streets to cheer the young man on and make his wishes reality.



12) Giant Robot Befriends Little Girl At Comic-Con 2013:

If most of us were accosted by a giant robot we're probably turn tail and run, but not Zoe. Instead the little girl in the red superhero cape walks boldly up to the robot and introduces herself in his microphone. Top marks for guts Zoe!
