Seven arrested after man dies in 'fight' outside Sheffield cinema

Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died outside a cinema in Sheffield.

Police were called at around 9.20pm on Friday to reports of a fight outside the cinema at Valley Centertainment, Sheffield.

When they arrived, officers found patches of blood but no victim.

The victim, who is believed to be in his 20s, had been taken to Northern General Hospital, where he later died.

Six men and one woman have been arrested and placed in police custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Handley, who is overseeing the investigation, said: "I'd urge anyone who was in the area yesterday evening who may have witnessed anything to get in touch.

"Please call 101 quoting incident number 950 of 21 September 2018, or call Crimestoppers to give information anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Formal identification and a forensic post-mortem examination is yet to take place.
