A woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting or encouraging suicide after a 19-year-old man was found dead.

Police were called to Blackburn Road in Clayton-le-Moors, Lancashire, at 1.45am on Thursday where they found the teenager's body and a 46-year-old woman with serious injuries.

She was given first aid at the scene before being taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where she is in a stable condition.

The woman was later arrested, but the man's death is still being treated as unexplained while inquiries continue, Lancashire Police said.

There is nothing to suggest anyone else was involved, the force added.

A spokesman said: "The families of those involved have been contacted and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"A post-mortem examination has been carried out on the man but the cause of death remains unascertained."

Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting incident number 643 of July 8.
