Police received a call at just after 11am this morning after a report of a suspicious device was found outside a property in Buxton.
The device was found under the informant's car on Coltishall Road.
A 100 metre cordon was put in place around the scene and an evacuation of six properties took place to ensure the public's safety. The residents are currently located at Buxton village hall.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers were called to the scene to determine the nature of the device and to ensure there is no danger to residents.
There is no indication that the wider public were in any danger. This is being treated as an isolated incident, targeted at a particular individual and is not being believed to posed a threat any other member of public.
