A man from Dereham in Norfolk has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of sexual offences.

22-year-old Scott Jackson from Kennedy Close in Dereham, answered 27 counts of having sex with underage girls. He pleaded guilty to 16 charges and not guilty to 11.

The offences dated from October 2006 to January 2011. He was arrested and charged by Norfolk Police in April 2011 and a lengthy investigation revealed nine underage girls who gave statements to police.

He was sentenced on Monday 30 January at Norwich crown court.

Detective Constable David Walker said: "This is a firm sentence that reflects the nature of Mr Jackson's crimes. He is a manipulative predator who exploited and controlled young girls whose lives have all been irreversibly affected by his behaviour. This sends a strong message that such offenders will be investigated and brought before the courts by Norfolk Police."

Scott Jackson will be registered on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
