Police are investigating an assault which happened in Norwich in the early hours of this morning which has left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.
Officers were called just after 1.30am by ambulance staff to the footpath at Rose Lane car park, St Johns Street near Mountergate to find a man with serious head injuries.
The 54 year-old local man was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The man's partner, a 42 year-old woman, was also attacked but does not have serious injuries. She is currently giving evidence to officers.
A police seal is in place at the location.
