Men Left With Head Injuries in Bottle Attacks

The first happened in Yarmouth on Marine Parade between 4am and 4:25am on Saturday 9 July 2011, a man in his late 20s had left a nearby nightclub, when he was approached from behind by a group of men and assaulted with what is believed to be a broken bottle or similar sharp object. 

The victim was left with deep cuts to the head and lost a large amount of blood.

The other was in Thetford and took place in the early hours of Sunday (10 July 2011) morning.

At approximately 1:45am, a man in his early 20s was followed from ICE nightclub to Mill Lane, where he was assaulted by another man in his late 20s.  The two men are believed to have been known to each other.

 

The victim received serious injuries to his head, back and hand, thought to have been caused by a broken bottle.  He remains at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital receiving treatment.

 

DC Gill Lacey, Thetford CID, would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or has information concerning it.  In particular, DC Lacey would like to hear from an elderly gentleman who was in the Mill Road area at the time of the incident and was seen to walk off towards Bury Road.
