Sandringham: Teen Murder Update

Detectives investigating the murder of a teenaged girl whose body was found on the Royal estate at Sandringham are taking no further action against two men arrested in connection with it.

17 year old Alisa Dmitrijeva's remains were discovered on New Year's Day this year on in woods at Anmer, close to Sandringham. She had disappeared from her home in Wisbech in August 2011. 

Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry commented on the decision saying: "All the facts relating to the death of Alisa were submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration.  A decision has been made that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute anyone for any offences at this time.  Her family have been informed. 

"Officers from both the joint MIT and Cambridgeshire Constabulary have worked tirelessly, since Alisa's disappearance was reported to us in September 2011, to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.  This was a complex investigation with many lines of enquiry and I am personally disappointed that we will not be able to offer her family any closure in this case." 

The investigation will remain open and any new information that comes to light will be considered.

William Armstrong, HM Coroner for Norfolk, will set a date for inquest in due course.

Following the discovery by a dog walker at 4pm on 1 January, a DNA profile and palm print later identified the remains as those of Alisa, who was reported missing from Wisbech on 6 September 2011.
